It’s Christmas soon and that’s why I want to share with you the festive feelings we have here in Finlande, especially in Helsinki.
The Christmas market is in “Senaatintori”, in front of the white Cathedral named “Tuomiokirkko”. Dozens of pastel colored huts intermingle under the Christmas lights. A smell of delicious gingerbread and “glögi” (mulled wine) will bring you appetite, and the music in the background will put you immediately in the Christmas mood. Here’s a few photos that I took this afternoon. Sadly, the weather wasn’t great.
One of the main avenues in Helsinki, “Esplanadi” is also gorgeous. The path is decorated with Christmas lights on each side and in the middle is a Christmas tree and some reindeers. Hard to imagine ? Well, I’ll show you.
In my opinion, the ambience is a lot better during night time. When the buildings are full of Christmas lights, the streets are filled with more people and when it’s colder outside. These photos were taken mainly in “Aleksanterinkatu” and “Mikonkatu”, the two avenues lying next to Stockmann (one of the main shopping centers in Finland).
It might be surprising, but a small Christmas market takes place next to “Aleksanterinkatu”, the street with an “A” in the middle of it’s Christmas lights. Here’s some photos !
I hope these photos put you in the Christmas mood because it’s approaching very fast. There’s nothing better than spending time with your family and eat as much as you can. It’s the most wonderful time of the year !
